Wesley, I was actually able to stop by O’Reillys this past Saturday. I have no doubt that the city can and will support both establishments.

Yes they both happen to be labeled as an “Irish Bar” but their target demographic are not the same. JK’s on one hand is a cozy, ornate and traditionally themed pub in a small charming old city building. O’Reilly’s, which for one being located at the ballpark, is more or less a large open room with little decor or flare located in a modern multi use development. It’s a hall designed for drinking and socializing at the ballpark with reasonably priced food as well as drinks, and best of all is their panoramic view of Parkview Field.

Although not what I was expecting, I happily welcome O’Reilly’s to downtown as a unique new type of bar/entertainment venue for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. I only hope we can see additional establishments join the fabric of our downtown during what I expect will be a very exciting year for downtown enthusiasts.

It’ll be interesting to see if Fort Wayne supports this and JK O’Donnells.

Looking a little bare inside but has potential solely based on location and view of the field. Just in time for St Paddys!
