Clinton Street Is Oficially Open

Clinton Street Reopens To Traffic, Expect Future Lane Restrictions

As of 10 a.m. Friday, lanes on Clinton Street just south of State Street, have re-opened to traffic.

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced Tuesday morning that on Friday, August 25th the lanes along US 27/Clinton Street will reopen just north of downtown Fort Wayne.

However, officials say that there will be future intermittent lane restrictions as contractors rebuild the approaches to Jacob and Elizabeth Streets.

The entire project is expected to be finished in late October.

The closure was due to replacement of the bridge over Spy Run Creek and softening of the curve on US 27, following the bridge, as traffic enters downtown Fort Wayne. The project has raised the bridge structure approximately seven feet above current grade to address serious localized storm water flooding issues. The project also has changed the footprint of the roadway to soften curves, thereby improving driver safety.
