A Positive Move For Local Public Transportation

News came this morning that Citilink may be restoring service cuts put in place in 2008, adding 30 minute service to it’s busiest routes.  I’m thrilled with this announcement, especially on the heels of the new downtown transfer station opening.  They did state that service enhancements would not likely take place until the middle of next year, but it’s still a positive move for the system.  Adequate coverage and frequent arrivals are extremely important for a healthy city and urban growth.  Besides the blue collar workers who access their employers via public transport, Fort Wayne is becoming a city with major needs for public transit due to its abundance of students.  Recent announcements of Ivy Tech establishing a campus on the south side, and the USF establishment of a downtown campus in the next year only add to the vast amount of colleges…
