Tincaps Season Kicks Off April 5th

Tincaps Ready For Start Of 2012 Season

The Fort Wayne TinCapsopen the 2012 season Thursday April 5.  On Saturday, fans had a chance to check out the ballpark.

At the open house event, fans had a chance to look at the new sod , try out their favorite food at the concession stand, and take a behind the scene tour of the park.  Also, for the first time, fans were able to take batting practice on the field.

As for the TinCap players, they’ll arrive in town on Sunday and have a couple of open practices over the next few days.  On Wednesday, fans can meet the players and get autographs.

The promotions are part of the season-long campaign called “It’s all about you.”

“It’s about making sure that we do things that continue to provide entertainment all season long,” Michael Limmer, Michael Limmer, the team’s vice president of marketing, said.  “All 70 home games.”

Here is the list of promotions for each day of the week for the 2012 season:

Sunday – Autograph Day

Monday – Family Feast Night.  $1 food menu and soft drinks.

Wednesday – Webkinz Night.  A free toy will be given to the first 500 kids at the game.

Thursday – Thirsty Thursday.  $1 beer.

Friday – Theme Night.

Saturday – Fireworks in the summer.

Limmer added new promotions and acts have been added between innings, and national acts are scheduled to perform after some games.

Throughout the season, fans will see a developing background in left field, as construction progresses on the Harrison project.  Limmer said the entire area has been fenced off, just like in past seasons.

“It will be fun watching it throughout the season,” Limmer said.  “We’re excited about getting it done and seeing the ballpark in the footprint as it was intended to be.”

Once the project is completed, the Harrison will enhance a fan’s experience at a game.

“It’ll be noisier in here and louder in here,” Limmer said.  “It’ll be another area, in left field, to bounce sound back.  And it’ll also be kind of fun with all the apartments for people that live there watching the game from there little balcony and terrace.  Just another thing unique to Parkview Field.”

Limmer said Thursday’s season opener against Lake County is nearly sold out.  Also at Thursday’s game, a random fan will be chosen by personnel to become the subject of a bobblehead doll which will be given away later in the season.
