The Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission on Monday approved spending up to $75,000 to begin engineering connected with the plan to narrow Jefferson Boulevard from four lanes to three.
The contract will specifically look at the lane next to The Harrison development between Ewing and Harrison streets. The contract will also include conceptual drawings on traffic heading east and west from the project.
This will likely be the first area to be narrowed, as it is already closed to two lanes for construction of The Harrison. Mayor Tom Henry has said he wants to narrow Jefferson and Washington boulevards downtown to make it more pedestrian-friendly.
